Summer in Phoenix
Two photo vignettes taken during Monsoon season.

Alex says: “Cool Diving Board Cat, Panasonic Lumix July 2012.” We have several generations of stray cats roaming the place. This mother cat commandeered the pool diving board to watch over her personal domain. Shot from indoors. I couldn’t open the slider door or remove the beach towel to capture this moment, as that would have scared her off. Click image for larger file. Photo by Alex Forbes. Early morning fog, I-10 near Palm springs, sunset shots, and an abstract in rocks, gravel and yard debris. The abstract was originally intended to document a suspected pool leak that turned out to be a half-open backwash valve. Click images for larger 1280×960 viewing. Duck Day Afternoon, II
“Duck Day Afternoon, II” … Phoenix. Not particularly a prestigious fine art photo, and the image title’s been used before too. What is new is an inch of rain, an all-free pool water fill-up, from yesterday’s storm: freshly downloaded from the Pacific, what they think is the new El Nino, gone as quickly as it arrived.
If you read our recent post in My Notes, this image shows the pool level is normal. The supposed “leak” turned out to be a switch someone accidentally left set in “backwash” mode. Problem easily fixed. Click image for large file. Browse all images in Alex’s Gallery.

1. A golden sunset over False Face Mountain as seen from BillyGoat Mountain Ranch in Rogue River.
2. We have a fair crop of wild Blackberries this summer despite low water flows in Evans Creek. Fresh Blackberry pies and shortcakes abound.
3. A four-headed tomato sits atop a days pick of tomatos headed for canning.
4. Various varieties of summer squash, cucumbers and tomatos headed for the dinner table and Mason jars.
Summer Garden Shade
“Summer Garden Shade” … Friend Art’s front yard in the shade of a hot summer day. Leica C-LUX 2 mini digital … Click image for larger file. Also browse all images in Alex’s Gallery.
Shade Tree
“Shade Tree” … back yard, Phoenix, early morning, on what they promise will be the hottest day year to date. Native plant, I don’t know the species, and it’s probably classified as a noxious tree by the Forest Service. I like it, messy and all. I pulled the fallen palm shoot out of the tree after this picture was taken.
