Capitol Centre Octagon

Terry writes: “This is a shot I took, then had some fun with it in a free photo program named “Zoner.” I feel like I should name the shot High Anxiety.” This is the Capitol Shopping Centre in Cardiff, Wales (not Maryland). “Zoner” is commercial photography software which, among other things, can “use the Droste Effect tool to create pictures that repeat inward into themselves.” Here we have excellent photography which is also very cool! Wales Millennium Centre – Terry White

Photo by Terry White. The Wales Millennium Centre is a UK center for the arts located in Cardiff, Wales. It houses the national orchestra among other performing arts. The inscription on the theater at the Centre is shown in Terry’s slide show. It reads “Creu Gwir Fel Gwydr O Ffwrnais Awen” (Welsh) or “In These Stones Horizons Sing” (English) – also the title of an orchestral work by noted composer Karl Jenkins. Terry writes: “Took the Fuji out and about today, the Weather was simply superb, a nice crisp clear early Spring Day.” … Click image for larger file. Wong Amat Bay 2007 Nov 16 2007

Terry has sent some stunning images of Thailand. They view really nicely on Picasa, where he maintains his web albums. I recommend checking out the slide show – very well done, and beautiful images!

California-Arizona desert enroute Phoenix. Leica C-LUX 2 mini digital 11/30/07, f5.6, ISO 100, focal length 16.4mm.  At 30,000 feet just before sunset, headed for the rainshowers to the east over south central Arizona, the incredible haze and water vapor load in the atmosphere has just about totally obscured the surreal landscape. If you peer closely at the foreground terrain below, you’ll see what appears to be a circular crater some miles in diameter… Click image for larger file.

#1. The St. Louis Arch close up.
#2. The muddy Mississippi as seen from an old time river boat.
#3. Bridge across Mississippi: from a sailing perspective.
#4. St. Louis Arch at night with full moon. Yes, it really looks that.”
