Solution(s) for "Had Had" word puzzle

This takes a buildup of context to make much sense. You need, of course, to think of a sentence where the word "had" appears twice in a row, and build from there ...

Don't give up so fast on the had-had.  It's not that hard.  After you
accept the unlikely proposition that there is a reasonable answer, it
becomes apparent what it must be.  Hint: can you think of a sentence in
which "had had" occurs?

task: "punctuate this sentence":

dave where alex had had had had had had had had had had had a better effect
on the reader

When I wrote "had", I had "had".

So close! If, where you had had "had", had had "had had", you would have
had it.

No, I would have had had "had had 'had', had had 'had had'".

If I had written "had had", I would have had "had 'had'".

Actually, there are 11 occurrences of "had", which is 6 and 5:

Alex: dave, where alex had "had had 'had had had'", "had had 'had had'" had a better effect
on the reader

Dave: Close. Try: Dave, where Alex had had "had", had had "had had"; "had had"
had had a better effect on the reader.

I like mine better, but they're both stinkers.
